[atrb=border,0,true] THE BASICS [scrolly:h(120),w(400),sy]Name: Lucas Benjamin Evans Codename: Ono Nicknames: Luke, Luca, Ben, Benny, Benji Age: 17 Gender: Male Sexuality: Straight Occupation: Freedom fighter, world’s best beat boxer Member group: Titan Preferred: Prime squad Codewords: Ninja codewords! [/scrolly] THE LOOKS [scrolly:h(120),w(400),sy]Eyes: Well proportioned to his face with long lashes, Luke’s eyes are an aquatic blue that can be quite intense at times. This blue turns to black when Luke uses his powers. Hair: Very dark brown to black, Luke’s hair is just long enough to be shaggy without making him look like a hippy. Height: 6'1" Body: Luke is lean, but it is a healthy lean. He enjoys running and so his body is built for endurance. Fat is almost nonexistent and whilst his muscles aren’t overly obvious, they are definitely present and quite strong when he puts his mind to it. Other distinguishing features: None Play By: Nicholas Hoult [/scrolly] THE PERSONALITY [scrolly:h(120),w(400),sy]Likes: Running Women Loud places Protecting others Sunsets Fresh food Dislikes: Slow people The United The Reavers Awkward silences Bunnies Not having the right word General: Luke is a kind and caring guy. He lives by the motto of you treat others as they would you. Naturally this means his personality experiences a bit of a change when it comes to the United, considering they killed his family. It is his goal in life to make them suffer as he has, whether that be through the sting of losing control over NYC to a bunch of teens, or by dieing at his hands, both options are good for Luke. However, with the exception of his deep hatred of the United, Luke is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. He constantly puts himself between others and danger, whether the danger be a bullet or emotional trauma. He tries to help everyone he can, finding himself driven by the desire to protect people from the hardship he has felt. He believes that humanity was not meant to live this way, the rubble they call a city attests to that. Civilizations of the past could build concrete jungles, create weapons that still work today, heal a person of nearly all illness, and much else besides. They did not live under the oppression of a gang of thugs, why should society today be any different? Luke enjoys the simple things in life, like good food and a good bed. He came from a simple background so that’s not surprising. He has however discovered he also enjoys the company of people. He did not go to school you see, rather Jodi home schooled him. He has a surprisingly good knowledge of the world considering, understanding basic electronics, first aid, math, etc. However his ability to open up to people is limited, due mostly to the fact that he’s never really talked to many people aside from his parents. Luke still doesn’t really trust anyone in NYC, finding himself often questioning whether they are true, or secretly working for the organization that killed his parents. That said, once you gain his trust, you gain it for life, and the man would die before letting you come to harm. [/scrolly] THE SKILLS Luke likes to run, it’s his outlet in life. As a result he is very fit and can run for very long distances. This also makes him very agile on his feet and well balanced. He is also quite strong due to his upbringing out on the farm where he needed to do quite a bit of physical labor. He has a very good knowledge of agriculture and intends to convert the roof of the Tower into a garden full of fresh vegetables and fruit. He is also a skilled cook, often helping his mother prepare dinner back at the farm. He does not know how to fight in any specific discipline, however the year he spent in the dark alleys of NYC gave him a crash course in street fighting. Being so agile Luke is very good at avoiding getting hit, but his punch lacks the power many others of bigger frames have. He does not know how to drive specifically, but he has watched the United leave his house many times and gets the gist of it. Sit in seat, spin wheel thingo, create big cloud of dust and speed away. Luke like to carry around a metal pole a few inches taller than himself when he’s in Titan mode. This is his only weapon aside from his voice, plus it makes cool noises when it hits other metal things. THE MUTATIONS Luke has the rather cool power of Onomatopoeisis. Put basically, the boy can say words, but instead of the word, the sound the word represents shall be heard. Eg, if Luca said ‘boom’, what would actually come out of his mouth would be an extremely loud noise like an explosion going off. If he were to say ‘zoom’ at someone, they would feel a gust of wind as though something had just passed them very quickly. Etc. Luke’s power is not limited to simply organic things and physical forces. He can also affect mechanical devices with his words. Eg. If he said ‘click’ to a gun, it would malfunction and not fire. But if he said it at a light, the device would simply turn off/on. Etc. When using his powers, Luke’s pupils flash black. However Luke’s abilities are not what most think. He actually has a combination of telekinesis and frequency manipulation abilities, both of which are controlled mentally or via his throat. When he says a word, a multitude of things can happen. If the word is going to have a physical effect such as creating a blast of wind, or creating a noise like a bark or footsteps, Luke creates says words like whoosh, woof and clomp clomp. But as he does so, his vocal cords manipulate the word, altering the frequency, volume, size and intensity. Hence by the time they leave his mouth the word is no longer sounding like the word Luke originally spoke, but rather the effect he desired to mimic. If however Luke were to want to create a physical effect which requires something other than being hit by a noise at a specific vibration, or something that should occur at the same time a specific noise his throat is busy making, he uses his telekinesis. A good example would be the word Ka-boom. His throat makes the loud, deep rumble and shockwave, but it is his telekinesis that rips apart the target, causing it to explode. Likewise if Luke mimicked the sound of gunfire and desired it to have a physical manifestation, his throat would create the noise of a gun going off, but his telekinesis would create the bullet by focusing down into a small ball and propelling itself with speed towards the foe, usually with enough force to penetrate. Another function of Luke’s powers is his mental manipulation of frequencies. This allows him to control the noises in the world around him, not just those that come out of his mouth. However this is unknown to Luke, he believing this power only works on words he has spoken but are now out of his mouth. An example would be if Luke were to bam, but then discovered that the wave he had sent out was not as concussively strong as needed. He could then focus on the wave and increase it’s intensity as it moves towards the target. Luke’s powers also interact with machines. Generally its because his telepathy combined with his sound wave manipulation tamper with the insides of a device and cause it to malfunction. Meaning most technology does not like Luke and explodes in his presence. Known Words Boom • A loud, deep noise similar to that associated with explosions. • Machine – Causes the device to explode. Zoom • Subject which the word is spoken at will have air rush past it, as though something had just moved very quickly by it. • Machine – Causes the device to explode. Bam • Subject whom word was spoken at will be blasted backwards by a concussive force similar to the shockwave from an explosion. • Machine – Also causes the device to explode. Ka-Boom • probably a combination of Boom and Bam. Subject the word is aimed at will explode, creating a loud noise, shockwave, and fiery debris. • Machine – Will cause LCD screens to ripple with colors, other effects unknown. Bark, Screech, Other animal noises • Luke will speak the exact call for the species he is thinking about when saying the word. Eg. A high yappy bark for a Jack Russell, but a more deep and growling bark for a Great Dane. • Machine - Generally creates bad effects. Eg. Screech causes brakes of a car to slam on for an emergency stop or would put scratches all through any discs you have in your computer. Click • Make the noise of clicking fingers, the sound of seatbelts clicking home, etc. Depends on where word is aimed and meaning behind it. •Machine - Causes guns to malfunction, lights to turn on/off, keyboards to type his desired message, etc Whoosh • Sends a gust of air towards the target, not as strongly as Bam, but enough to toss your hair around. •Machine – Mostly causes devices to explode. Clomp clomp • Make the noise of foot steps and that of a stapler hitting home. •Machine – Causes any loose parts to levitate slightly in the air then drop immediately back into place, generally causing computers and the like to freak out and shut down. Pow pow • Makes the noises of gun fire like that of a handgun or machine gun. •Machine – Causes guns to start firing, or other equipment to be hit by invisible bullets. THE WEAKNESSES Luke thinks his power is based entirely off him being able to talk. If you were to gag him he would believe his powers would be useless. They’re not, but he has yet to discover this. When it comes to using his power to manipulate sound via his throat, the boy’s mutation is a little more complex than voice on voice off. If he is sick, has been hit in the throat, is running short of breath, or is unfit in any other way, his abilities will be affected. For instance, if he’s short of breath and says bam, the resulting wave of energy blowing away from him would be weaker than it normally is. If Luke’s sick with a cold or tonsillitis etc, the actual affect his words have may be changed, eg, saying click to a gun will make it fall into it’s separate parts instead of just not firing. Furthermore, like all muscles, Luke can over strain his throat. By attempting to vibrate a sound to too high a frequency, or making things too loud he can wear out his throat and lose his voice for a few days, just like normal people when they spend the day yelling at someone. Just like normal sound, Luke’s noises diminish with distance. The same restrictions that a yell cold travel apply to one of Luke’s yells of the same frequency. Moving on to his telekinesis, Luke is not really aware of this function of his abilities. He understands that something happens when he says a word other than the manipulation in his throat, how else can he explain things spontaneously combusting when he says ka-boom? He also understands that after using words that require this telekinesis, his head becomes very sore with a throbbing headache. His telekinesis, whilst not the strongest out there, is very fine tuned. He is very skilled at finely molding it to his desires, such as creating a series of small mental bullets. He is however limited by range. His telekinetic attacks can only go so far as 300m maximum. Generally his attacks become ineffective at around 150m. Like most telekinetics, the larger the object he tries to manipulate, the harder it is and the more he must mentally strain. This causes his headache to increase in potency faster, thus rendering this type of power useless faster. Furthermore, in addition to the headache, Luke also experiences mental fatigue. His body is fine, however it is his brain that can fail to stay awake if he pushes himself to hard. To give an example of his limits, if Luke could consciously decide to levitate objects in the air, he could keep a candle suspended for 2 days, or a truck suspended for half an hour. Meaning he could probably say Ka-boom and Pow Pow for about an hour before the headache becomes too much and he feels like he’s about to pass out. Luke’s mental manipulation of his sound waves is again limited by distance, having the same limitations as his telekinesis. Likewise, excessive use of this ability will add to his headache and mental fatigue. He can mess around with the strength and volume of a wave, but not change it’s base nature. Ie, he cannot change the concussive wave created by Bam into a dog’s bark. His powers are very subjective and extremely variable in the affects of different words. As a result it is very hard to predict what will happen when Luca says a particular word. He could go to say tick tock to make a clock ticking noise to let the person walking in front of him know how slow he was going, but because he was angry or bored or distracted when he spoke, he accidentally created a ticking bomb noise, not a ticking clock. It is for this reason Luke tends not to try new words. Accidentally blowing up the sidewalk when the countdown ran out was thrilling enough the first time round. Luke can control whether his powers are active or not, generally keeping them in off mode so he can chat without fear of saying something dangerous. However this means that to use his powers he has to focus on the words. It does not take much energy to activate his gifts, but it does leave him vulnerable for a moment as he does so. No, Luke’s biggest weakness would have to be how easily his powers can be rendered useless, and how quickly he runs out of new words which he’s comfortable saying. THE HISTORY Lucas Evans was born to Stan and Jodi Evans. His family didn’t live in NYC, rather they tended a small vegetable farm to the South. It was a happy home, quiet, secluded, beautiful. But all too regularly a squad of United or Police would stop by and take most of the crop they had without paying. Stan could not do anything to stop them, he was one man with a club and they far outnumbered and out powered him. The Evans could probably of turned quite a profit due to Jodi’s tender care for the crops, but with most of their stock regularly taken, they barely managed to make enough to keep the farm going. It was into this bipolar world that Lucas grew up. He helped his parents tend the crops, and hid in his room as his parents commanded when it came time for their stock to be taken. Aside from the regular chaos though, Luke had quite a happy childhood, becoming quite close to nature, adapt at growing things, and skilled at then cooking or using them. That is, until Luke turned 16. It had been a normal morning. He’d headed out at about 5am, running down the old concrete road that was slowly being reclaimed by the grass and trees. He’d run south, away from the city, a much safer direction as there was less chance of running into less than friendly folk. It had been a fairly average run in the brisk morning air, Luke getting back home at around 9am. However it was what he found awaiting him that would change the boy’s life forever. The door was open when he approached the small cottage, not unusual, but that was not what caught his attention. It was the tracks that had torn up the grass on approach to the house. Someone with a vehicle had been here, and Luke only knew of one group who used cars anymore. Cautiously he had entered the house, noting with trepidation that the crop looked like it had all been taken. It was as he feared, they had ransacked the house. What little possessions his family had now lay broken and strewn across the floor. The crop had not been growing as well as it usually did, it was small and of poor quality. The United were obviously displeased. Continuing his slow lap of the house Luke’s chest grew tight as he failed to hear noises aside from those he was making. Surely his parents would be in here cleaning up now that the United were gone? Deep down he already knew, but it wasn’t until he rounded the corner and entered their bedroom that the truth was revealed. There his parents lay, the walls and ceiling covered in sprays of their blood. Luke doesn’t really remember what happened after that. Probably the shock. But what he does remember is what that blank moment of his memory hid. By the time Luke had come back to his senses, the house was nothing more than a pile of smoldering rubble, the fields roaring with wildfire, and it almost looked as though a tornado had torn though the field and his home, such was the path of destruction. As for Luke himself, he was now standing on the road’s edge, his throat throbbing as though he had been screaming for hours on end, his head pounding like he had head butted a wall repeatedly. Confused, ill, and alone, Luke had turned and headed North. Since his only shot at livelihood was now engulfed in flames, he had to head to the main city to get a proper job, probably as a cook or something. But he was also motivated by darker reason. Revenge. The United ruled NYC. They had killed his parents. They would pay. Over the next year Luke jumped from one seedy job to another. Sometimes he cooked, other times he cleaned up the street outside a bar of all the puke and urine it collected overnight. He spent most of his spare time thinking about how he could ever avenge his parents. He had no idea who exactly had been the ones to kill them, and it was simply stupid to consider taking on the entire United gang. They numbered enough to make a small army, he was but one man. What could he do? But Luke wasn’t simply a man. He was a man with powers. You see, during his travels around NYC, the boy had stumbled upon his recently awoken power over sound. He guessed it had activated at his parents death, and that moment of his past he couldn’t remembered hid the secrets of just how powerful his words could become. He re-discovered his gifts when he attempted to whistle along with the bird chirping outside, only to find his whistle had literally turned into a chirping noise. Luke experimented, finding out how some noises worked, before attempting to use his odd powers on actually words. In hindsight, Ka-boom probably wasn’t the best first choice of words. Constantly battling within himself, Luke finds himself spending most of his time treading the line. On the one hand he desperately wants revenge on the United, whether that means killing them all or simply kicking them out of NYC doesn’t matter. On the other hand, the memory of what his voice had done to the farm, the raw power it contained, limited him in how willing he was to try new words, for he could make a noise that could create a hurricane for all he knew. So Luke joined the Titans, quickly rising through the ranks due to his dedication to ridding the city of evil, strong leadership skills, and the strength of his powers. Most understand that the United have wronged him some way in the past, as they have most, but few know the true reason why Luke fights against them so passionately. If they did, some might worry about just how far he is willing to go to achieve victory. THE PLAYER Name: Emma Time Zone: GMT +10, Australia Contact Info: PM or MSN me.
