In 2012 humanity experienced a massive leap forward in it’s evolution. For a reason yet to be identified by science, people all over the world started to develop super powers. This phenomenon became known as the Kailani effect.
In America recently awoken supers quickly took to using their powers for their own benefit. Robberies, murders, vandalism, it was anarchy on the streets. In response to this several groups of supers came together and tried to fill the shoes of the Teen Titans they’d heard about in comics and movies. Powered battles were taking place in all the states and the government was struggling to keep control of the situation, so they approached a large group of wannabe heroes and struck a deal with them. This group was known as the Storm Riders.
As it was apparent the best course of action would be to fight powers with powers, the government proposed that the Riders form an official core within the American services much like the CIA. This would mean they could continue to subdue the rebel supers, but would have the organization, training, resources, and support of the government.
Seeing no problem with this at the time, the Riders accepted. Rapidly their ranks grew as heroes from across the nation signed up. However their enemies adapted to the new situation, creating the abnormal terrorist group known as the Reapers. The encounters between the 2 sides escalated in intensity, scale, and mortalities for both supers and civilians. As a result, human animosity towards supers grew with each passing day.
By 2013 the Riders had to deal not only with the Reapers, but with anti super groups as well. It was during this year that the SOH (Soldiers Of Humanity) formed, it’s members declaring war on abnormals and vowing to exterminate all those who had power. Likewise the government began to regret it’s decision to give so much authority to the Riders. With anti super public opinions growing, and the Riders failing to halt the advances of the Reapers, creating large amounts of collateral damage in any encounters they had with their foes, new ways of managing the system began to be investigated.
In 2014 the government started to secretly fund SOH, providing facilities and weapons to the group as a secondary counter to the ever growing Reaper threat. The Riders continued to perform their duties, even through majority of the public had begun to side with SOH and think of the Riders as supers who had simply yet to reveal their anti human beliefs.
It’s now 2015. The Reapers have declared all out war on humanity seeking it’s destruction much like SOH seeks the destruction of all supers. Keeping the balance in the middle stands the Riders, feared for their abnormal powers, respected for their ability to keep the peace. The government has taken a seat as far away from the situation as possible. They hope the 3 groups will simply kill each other off and solve the problem once and for all. Regardless, they still publicly fund and support the Riders, whilst secretly supporting SOH.
The world is in chaos. A. The Riders are over worked trying to maintain the peace. The Reapers are constantly coming up with new stages in their plans to exterminate humanity, likewise so are SOH. The people are divided, hatred and fear fill the air. We are on the precipice and our actions now will decide the fate of generations to come. Welcome to Teen Titans Forever, we hope you survive.
