[atrb=style, width: 410; border: solid #284042 10px; padding: 5px; background-color: #1f1f1f; -moz-border-radius: 20px;] ALICE KINGS if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything [atrb=border,0,true] THE BASICS [scrolly:h(120),w(400),sy]Name: Alice Dolli Kings Codename: Babydoll Nicknames: Baby, Dollface (this one annoys the hell out of her, but some people insist) Age: Seventeen Gender: Female Sexuality: Straight Occupation: Student Member group: Neutral Squad: She rides solo Codewords: The Codewords are a lie. Theme song: Search and Destroy [/scrolly] THE LOOKS [scrolly:h(120),w(400),sy]Eyes: Alice has rather wide, almond-shaped eyes. Depending on the lighting, her irises could come off as a hazel, or a solid green. She has very dark eyelashes despite her blonde hair. Hair: Wavy, light blond hair, almost to the point of being white. The black headband she always wears doesn't help the contrast at all. It normally reaches upper-mid back when in her pigtails (how it is normally styled), and mid back when down. She has bangs just long enough to get in her face, but not long enough to tuck behind her ear. Thankfully, it's rather manageable. Height: Five foot four inches. Body: Toned, but still maintains her feminine figure. Slender. Other distinguishing features: Besides her very pale skin, nothing out of the ordinary. She doesn't get freckles, but does have a few hidden birthmarks, concealed only by clothing (not like she's going to worry about saying them, mind you). Play By: Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, maybe later on with her brown hair) [/scrolly] THE PERSONALITY [scrolly:h(120),w(400),sy]Likes: **Discipline: Those who disrupt any balance of life she may have, are in for a great deal of hurt or clear annoyance directed your way. Alice doesn't mind when people have safe, not destructive fun, but when it turns chaotic with the rules thrown out of the window, this girl will not hesitate to step in. **Control: While she lives in a criminal-based government, Alice feels the incredible need to be in control. Whether it's of the environment, of the situation, or most of the times, of herself, it's always there, the lingering desire. Though, this isn't to be mistaken for an obsession, but it could quickly turn to such with the right situation. **Nighttime: When all is calm and Alice doesn't have to worry about the idiocy of others, that's the time that you'll see the girl at her most peaceful. Of course, this is when villains are the most prone to doing something villainous, so that's quite often disrupted. **Winter: Both this and cold weather overall. Normally, it's because people prefer to stick it out indoors, leaving Alice to be (mostly) to her thoughts. There may be a link between her ability and this like, but she claims that's merely coincident. **Singing: This is something that she would not tell, anybody ever. The only person that knows is her grandfather, who caught her singing. And after he passes away (a thought she dreads), nobody will have known. **Her sword: A samurai sword, to be precise. While one may wonder why a girl such as Alice would like a weapon, she loves it all the same. She thinks that it's a precious part of her family's heritage [explained more so in history], and a key part in her whole 'superhero' persona. Dislikes: **Chaos: Oh how she loathes this. One can't really comprehend how much she does until they've seen how frustrated or even angry she becomes when there is a lack of order, whether it be her emotions, people, or events taking place. **The United: This once wavered in the likes category...that is, until they kidnapped her parents because of their abilities. Since then, she's sworn against them (and if anything comes to her turning bad, she will most likely run to the Reavers). **Mistreatment of others: While she's conflicted with the temptations of mass control, this hasn't changed any. If somebody is bullied or being hurt without justice, she'll change that...quickly, but without removing her weak mask. **Summer: The gross heat of summer often leaves Alice in a terrible mood. She knows her body isn't made for such conditions, as she will get tired much more quickly (despite her enhanced agility, she still can get tired). **The Titans: She will not lie to them and tell them that she "idolizes" them. To tell you the truth, Alice thinks they are a bunch of pansies that won't do enough to help people. Too light on the villains, they say, while Babydoll won't hesitate to show them that what they are doing is wrong, the hard way. **Romance: The thought leaves her embarrassed and annoyed. Alice has always shunned the idea of opening up herself to someone so greatly, and don't get her started about the thought of touching someone so intimately. She blushes just thinking about it. General: While viewed as a quiet, harmless little girl, Alice is anything but. Donning the codename Babydoll, one would have thought that it would follow suit with her "personality". Wrong. She doesn't just put up the facade that she's weak, but also hides her true potential (that being her mutations). That is, until you come across her when she's in battle mode. When you see her pulling out her sword, that's when you should be worried. Alice purposely hides any combat skills through stuttering, shy behavior. In school, she never gives an answer or actively participates in class, which many peers mistake for simply being "dumb". However, in battle, she proves that she's anything but. The "true" Alice, or who she actually is (without her mask in effect), really isn't all that nice of a gal. Still stricken with the loss of her parents, this little girly grew up very fast, soon becoming much more mature and stern. Having only a weakening grandfather to take care of her, Alice had the weight of not only herself but dear 'papa' on her shoulders. She found ways to make things last, rationing food and supplies as he could rarely work, due to his declining health. She didn't have much time to play, even though in this day and era, having fun wasn't a daily occurrence. Instead of being taken care of, Alice found herself taking care of others. This having become a routine, soon developed into a trait of hers, to act as a motherly figure to people who needed it. Of course, this doesn't subtract from her strictness, only softening the edges of her personality. Enough so, that she's decided to work on the side of the "better good". Otherwise, she would have been up for grabs by either side. In reference to the above, Alice still is conflicted on what side she should choose. While it is clear that she can't stand innocent people being harmed, there is that strong lust for control (not necessarily "power" and could easily overpower her. It has a couple times in the past, but she'll deny any such instances. This is an incredible desire that's very hard to suppress and lately, it's been getting the better of her. This yearn to be in control isn't helped any by her merciless behavior around criminals. One could think of her as internally conflicted and it would be accurate enough. Of course, if she's gotten this far and having not break her good streak, Alice won't give up without a fight. Overall, she's a tough chick, even though a lot of people don't know that. She can handle insults and physical assaults no problem. It would take a hurricane of the above just to leave a dent on Alice (except for a few matters, which hit her dead on her heart). [/scrolly] THE SKILLS Her primary weapon is the katana that's been passed down generations of her family. While there is a lot of mystery behind it, her grandfather often talked about how it was blessed by a 'celestial being'. She humors him, but does not believe that is. However, she's capable of quite a bit with this sword as it's proven to be much more durable than a normal katana. Not only is she quite the swordswoman, but a sharp shooter at that. She owns a pistol with charms (something she inherited from her mother and put on the gun). Since bullets are very low in supply, her gun is merely a backup plan if all else fails and she isn't somehow able to either of her abilities. Alice received this weapon from a man she caught trying to mob a woman, and despite it having a bad history, she cherishes it like she does her sword. Note, this is quite often paired with her wind manipulation, which helps not only to control the direction and speed, but the energy so that she doesn't have to take a breather every five minutes. It isn't made known, but Alice has quite the head on her shoulders, both confident and intelligent (primarily speaking about the former). She will often find herself looking at events from different stand-points, taking in all the factors of a situation before finding the best possible actions. She's much more street-than-book smart, but should not be mistaken as an idiot, because there's a clever girl in there waiting to prove herself. THE MUTATIONS Enhanced Swordsmanship This is a rather peculiar mutation. Instead of being focused on one aspect, it revolves around a few others and an object to focus such ability. For one, she's quite talented when it comes to any sort of melee fighting, but Alice is the most comfortable with a sword. She knows the weight and doesn't have to worry about swinging too sharply. Along with the obvious, Alice's reflexes, agility, dexterity, combat and strength are all heightened greatly, but not enough for people to take notice when they're being sliced at. She combines this ability with 'Air Manipulation', often manipulating currents of air towards her targets from the sword. Can also be performed with something long, such as a staff, dislodged poll, etc. As this is such an odd power to acquire, how she obtained it can only be a guess. The katana, having been passed down her family for generations, almost left an "imprint" on her genes (almost like evolving to suit one's surroundings, she evolved to use the sword her ancestors used before her). That is not to say her ability makes the sword invincible, otherwise Alice wouldn't have run away from the fights she had. If it were to break, she'd be forced to use something less reinforced, such as a bo staff, a pole, or even a long branch. That, however, isn't the best idea as she is so use to the feel of her sword, it would take her awhile to get use to the weight, air resistance, inertia, etc. Air Manipulation Believe it or not, this is an incredibly unstable power, despite Alice's great self-control and discipline. It isn't linked to weak emotions, but when this girl is angry, you can tell. She doesn't just need her sword or a melee weapon to use her aerokinetic abilities, but it is much prefered. It gives her a sense of control over what it and it shows in her combat. Instead of worrying about messily blowing things around, she can concentrate a clean blast of wind in one direction. If she were to just use her hands (or god forbid, her none of her limbs), it rarely comes together as planned, either a gust instead of a breeze or vice versa. Alice probably could learn how to manage it, maybe even use it to lift herself off the ground, but for now, she prefers using her sword. Babydoll can quickly become exhausted from excess use of this ability, but thanks to her 'Enhanced Swordsmanship', it helped to increase her endurance in this area. However, Alice could easily faint if she was angry enough to use it. As unstable as it may be, it's power is great (unless controlled by her sword). The most that she's been able to create was about 100mph gusts of wind. It starts about such speed where she begins to manipulate it, and has been very spontaneous as to whether it must pick up momentum or not. As long as she concentrates, the wind can continue such high speeds for about a twenty-five to fifty yard radius around her (again, once more on concentration), in which the wind then slows down and molds back to how fast the natural current must be. How long the wind is held up and how much energy is consumed depends on how strong/fast it is. Keeping up 50MPH winds wears her out after about five to ten minutes without her sword. Now, something much more powerful, such as hurricane force winds, would easily wipe her out after a minute. While Alice cannot get too detailed with how the wind will come out like, if she could create many separate bursts of air (such as three streams of air heading different directions), it would consume as much energy as one gust that was the sum of each wind speed. For example, she creates three bursts of air that were 30mph each. It's energy consumption would be equal to one gust of wind at 90mph. Also, Alice is not able to create anything too detailed without the use of her katana. Due to having little experience using it without her weapon has caused her to forget the care it takes. So, unless she's forced to adapt to without a blade, she can only conjure up a single burst. On a side note, the air could be a sudden gust or gradually pick up speed, but it's much easier to do the former. A spontaneous burst would be comparable to the force exerted on somebody that went from 0 to 60 in five seconds. THE WEAKNESSES Alice is limited to controlled air manipulation by sword. It would take quite awhile to understand her ability, but she's put it off for another time. Even then, she can't unleash her true potential (but has no desire to reach it if it's going to drive her out of control). Also, her sword isn't invincible. With enough force and wear, the thing could crack, or even snap. Babydoll knows this and does her best to keep it in tip top shape, but sometimes you just can't help the conditions. Rain or moonlight (as she almost rarely goes out during the day, other than school), the sword goes through a lot. If it were to break, Alice would be left near vulnerable. On the topic of physical activity, despite her heightened sense of fighting, she is not use to fighting hand-to-hand combat. If it ever came to that, she would probably use a gust of wind to distract them while she made her escape. Personality-wise, Alice has many dark corners in her heart. While it is hidden by her good intentions, the control hungry part of her is ever present. Seeing people doing bad things, such as stealing, murder, and such, causes it to grow ever so slightly. She just wants to bash their skulls in and make them realize what they are doing. It's frightened Alice quite a few times when the urge to hurt evil-doers is too much, and it's sad to say that she has taken a few people's lives (all of them, however, had killed a person/people). Still, it haunts her and only causes her to stricken her hold of that last strand of sanity. While Alice is a damn near fearless gal, she does have one ultimate weakness and that's her grandfather. As his health declines, she grows more and more worried that the next time she returns home, she'll have lost another and her last family member. Due to this, Alice has gone to great lengths to protect him while protecting others, a job that's caused many sleepless nights and stress filled days. THE HISTORY Everybody's thought to be equal at birth, then determining their value through their actions. It would seem such to humans, but in a society based on violence and hate, such man's natural laws don't apply. If you're born under a neutral, such as Alice Dolli Kings, you grow up to believe that the United is great and almighty. Schooling, while optional, often contained hidden United propaganda to brainwash the young into believing that you should follow them and nobody else...and Alice would have grown up like any other child under such rulings, but two factors stood in the way. The first was that she was no ordinary girl. It was very apparent that like her parents, Alice could do things other people couldn't. It developed when she had been in the middle of her first section of schooling, around the age of nine. Small wisps of air would twirl her hair and play with it, eventually pushing down schoolmates when they made fun of her. It was all fun and games, despite the poor living conditions... Then, we introduce the second reason. As Alice approached the anniversary of her eleventh year of life, it began to become apparent that not only was she not normal, but her parents were either. And the United quickly took interest in that. She found herself arriving home from school with mysterious people talking to her parents. Her family chatted nervously with the two thuggish looking men, and occurrences like those began to become more frequent, and much more angry. They would return, frustration evident on her face for more arguing. And then came the day where they would disappear forever...arriving home from a rather bad day at school, the blonde little girl found herself standing in the ruins of her home. The makeshift furniture was upturned and possessions scattered amongst the floor. Unsure of what to do, she ran to the next place she knew was safe, her grandfather's house. As Alice recalled the horror of her home, he asked her about any of the suspicious men that visited her house. And while they were visited by many, she always claimed their ring's stood out the most. Of course, stricken by grief, he took in his granddaughter. Blasted by the immense pain of losing her parents, Alice took quickly to the training her grandfather gave her. She soon learned that despite his old age, he honed the ability to replicate actions through what he had seen. The old man began to teach Alice different techniques of defending herself on the unforgiving streets. It started out with simple things, such as getting out of a sticky situation. Nothing too bad. It was when he handed her a simple staff that it became apparent air manipulation was not her only ability. She took to the weapon quickly, easily following along with any movements he showed her. It was when she turned thirteen that he bestowed upon her the great family honor they had been harboring for quite some time. A katana that was passed down from generation to generation. It's origins were unknown, but due to being limited in staffs that chipped easily, the sword was placed in Alice's hands. Of course, such a young girl with a weapon of great magnitude was dangerous, but it was a risk he was willing to take if it meant both she and other people would be safe. Slowly but surely, she fled the comfort of dull wood in her hands in replacement for a sharper, more cutting edge (literally) weapon. Years later, her abilities developed greatly, it being very obvious that Alice could keep herself safe. However, unbeknownst to her grandfather and the public, Alice became Babydoll, a figure that protected others in the name of justice (but she spared the villains from a speech, never having been the one to talk before or during battle). No longer the carefree and happy girl she was, but now a hardened soul after years of training and taking care of her only family. Yet, she kept an even greater secret deep inside of her, that was just waiting to break free. Inside the strong, yet completely dangerous girl, was the desire to make people stop their fooling around, their violent tendencies...it had grown so terrible a few times, that she killed those who she caught. Ever since then, Babydoll has remained out of the public eye, only returning to such heroic actions when she's really needed. With the Titans rising and her grandfather in declining health, it seemed that Alice wouldn't have to continue. But there was still that flicker of dark energy, and she can only contain it for so long. Whether or not she's able to maintain her "good" image, all depends on what happens next. THE PLAYER Name: Alice, but I also go by Bree. Time Zone: CST (United States) Contact Info: PM, MSN, Skype (please message me to obtain my username!) Roleplay Sample: Slow, steady breathing was the only sign of life in the seemingly dead room. Peeling wallpaper that revealed old paint was no scarce thing, as it seemed the classroom was anything but maintained. It didn't appear familiar to one years and years ago. The students, however, didn't know anything other than the makeshift school. It wasn't particularly crowded, some parents having to pull them out and make their children work. True, but a sad one at that, and a rather tragic issue to think about. That wasn't the matter on her mind, though. Alice Kings sat quietly at a table, shared by a couple of other chairs, but seeing how she was the only one in the room, it couldn't have mattered less. She twirled her hair nervously, the blonde locks slipping effortlessly between her fingers as her hazel eyes darted from the clock to the front of the classroom. Alice decided that, instead of bringing the man she knew was following her to her house, she stuck it out in an abandoned classroom. While she could feel her nerves catching up to her, the aerokinetic teenager fought off any instinct to run away and survive. Otherwise, she would have been long gone and in the sanctuary of her home, away from this United ran school. A shudder coursed up and down her spine, causing her hair to tremble with her body. A loud pounding on the door would have caused Alice to jump from her seat, but she found the beating a comfort. It was indicator that she could jump out the windows without worry she was being followed. However, instead of being given time to answer the shut door, it bust open with a rather angry looking man staring her down. Before she could let him at her, a burst of energy she had been storing up unleashed itself as it gave her enough to push a group of chairs at the man (who now held a pistol in his hands). The onslaught of chairs was enough for him to stumble back and give Alice a few, precious seconds that she needed. He glimpsed at her and found the nimble form nearly diving out of the open window. Alice did not waste any time brushing herself off and after scrambling to stand up, found her legs pumping furiously away from the school. If there was one thing she hated, it was playing bait. But if there was one thing that she despised even more, it was the thought of her only relative leaving her. Like all the others did. |
