Dislikes: - ANNOYING PEOPLE. - WINTER. - THE COLD. - THE GANGS. - ANIMAL-HATERS. - HATERS. - COLORS. pastels, dull browns. General: It’s pretty obvious to the average onlooker who Aaron likes. Or, at least, they can make a general guess based on the fact that he fit so many of the gay stereotypes. He’s somewhat loud and loves attention. He’s extremely flamboyant, and isn’t quiet about it either. Basically, this kid screams out his sexuality as loud as he can. Contrary to popular belief, Aaron doesn’t do it for the attention; it’s just who he is. Aaron also has this little quirk where he could give a rat’s butt about what you think of him. As long as you think about him, he’s totally fine with it. Hey, if you aren’t, he’ll give you a reason to think about him. Caution is needed when you’ve lived the last three years of your life as a vigilante and doubled as a student, especially when your two targets to attack are the Reaver and United gangs. This isn’t a bad thing, really. It makes Aaron more concerned about details and making sure that no one knows who he really is. This has led to a huge increase in human morphs, along with more domestic animal morphs as well, to disguise himself as easily as possible. This caution makes him form complex plans as he watches things unfold, and he’s really good with not only sticking with the plan, but ad libbing when needed. It also makes Aaron slightly weary around the gangs, newer folks, and some people that he already knows, since who can you trust when your entire life is spent as not only yourself, but as a lot of other things and people. Manipulation is another key aspect to diplomacy, and Aaron will do whatever it takes to get what he wants out of people and groups. In order to make them see reason, you have to kill the second in command? Sure, why not? Aaron can just rattlesnake morph and bite them when they aren’t looking to get the job done. He’ll do basically whatever it takes to get people to see not only his way, but follow it. He has a certain charisma, (or maybe that’s just his looks…) around him that starts the process going for him. Aaron is a master at the game of words, and uses it to his advantage, saying just the right thing to a sad little girl, or inciting anger towards a certain individual. Hey, whatever’s needed. Aaron is like most people, and has flaws. Whether or not he’d admit to having these flaws is a totally different matter. When things are going his way, Aaron tends to become slightly cocky, which only grows as it gets better and better. Usually he can contain it, but not all the time. Aaron is also a pretty wrathful person, and upsetting him can mean that you’ll find a nice boa in your bed that right. In reality, it’s him scaring you for whatever you did. For all his anger at times, Aaron has a hard time with grudges. After getting even, he forgets about being angry. [/scrolly] THE SKILLS Behind that pretty face of Aaron's lies a pretty athletic kid. Aaron has some skill in most sports, though his favorites are tennis, swimming, and track being an all-time favorite. Running is the thing that keeps him going, and he can be seen running and jogging when he needs to mull things over. Whenever possible, Aaron can be seen riding a motorcycle. Because of gas problems, Aaron will also steal gas for it, though it can become a problem at times. Mostly it's for show since, hey, he can become a cheetah who can go for sixty-five miles for a few minutes, or a gazelle who can go forty for hours on end. THE MUTATIONS Aaron’s power is known at least to himself as morphing. Others would call his ability shape shifting or perhaps transformation. In essence; Aaron has the ability to transform into any member of the animal kingdom. This means anything from eagles, to crabs, to even humans, as they are a Great Ape. There are some drawbacks to his ability, as there must for everything. One is that unless he’s wearing skin-tight clothing, he will either destroy them if he’s getting bigger, or will be lost in them when he gets really small. Then afterwards, Aaron is left with no clothes on, which can be extremely awkward. As of now, Aaron knows of no time limit for his morphing, though the longest he’s ever gone was three hours as a snake. Another downside is when he’s changing bodies, he’s at his most vulnerable, as he cannot break concentration while changing or else be stuck halfway until he can find a place to finish. This can cause problems as his legs might not support his weight or his skeletal system isn’t finished changing and muscles can’t work properly yet. Once a morph is finished, the instincts and mind of the animal also become part of Aaron's conscience, and Aaron can use these either to his advantage, such as having the instincts control feathers in flight or monitor scents for him, or annoying when they try to gain control of the body. There are two ways in which Aaron can gain a new body, or “morph.” The first is through visual perception through any media. Animals he sees through sight are the second easiest on his first time morphing into them, and cause little pain. Animals he sees in books are the hardest to become, and the first transformation causes a good deal of pain and take awhile to finish. Usually for these, Aaron hides in some empty place to take on the painful transformation. The more… unusual way for Aaron to gain a new morph is through DNA replication through physical touch of his hand to the animal’s bare fur or skin. By touching an animal, his cells will copy out the DNA and store it in carrier cells in his bloodstream for further use. These morphs cause no pain on their first transformation, and go at the rate or his more common morphs. Usually Aaron uses people and domesticated animals he needs on the spot to copy out DNA, and there is no limit to how many DNA molecules he keeps in his system. In order for Aaron to change bodies, he must be able to concentrate on the specific animal he wants to throughout the process. Usually he thinks about what it’s like to be that animal, or the animal’s body. While that mental process is going on, Aaron’s body undergoes a crazy change. Bones that would provide the same function change to suit the new body, organs appear and disappear as needed, appendages are added, fur, feathers, or fins are grown as needed, and he grows or shrinks to become an exact replica of whatever animal he’s becoming. These changes have no logic behind them and are different each time. Like if Aaron was becoming a cobra, his arms might shrivel up into his body while his lungs and kidneys change shape, then he’ll fall straight on his face as his legs sink into his body and his backbone extends where his legs used to be, then the full skeleton kicks in, the organs, and finally he gains scales and finally coloration. Or perhaps he gains the scales and coloration first and then losses his appendages. He never knows. All injuries in any morph are lost in the transition back to Aaron, though any injuries Aaron sustains as himself will stay until healed, no matter how many morphs he goes through. Aaron has enough control over his transformations to change only certain aspects of his appearance. This can be from using the DNA or visual aid of another person to using parts of animals. While he can control this, he still doesn’t have control over how he’ll go about it. Let’s say he wanted to change his eyes to Asian eyes. They might change color then size, and then any added ocular structures, such as his cones and rods, or the cones might change first. Thanks to this, he can effectively change his appearance at will by adding traits of different people together. When in a full morph, Aaron unlocks an ability known as telepathy. His form of telepathy can best be explained using Facebook. For those who don’t know, on Facebook, you can make status updates that everyone can see, and make comments that everyone can hear, or have mini conversations between yourself and a few select people. You also have the option to send pictures. Basically, this is how this “add-on” to his morphing works. Aaron can choose to either make statements that anyone in range can hear, or have a private, one-way conversation with one, two, or a few people. Aaron’s telepathy is not limited by walls, as it is a mental power over physical, though with distance comes the clarity. The closer the person or people are to Aaron, the better they’ll hear. It’s like if he was talking to them. So far, the farthest people have been able to at least somewhat hear Aaron clearly is a mile, making it wonderful for updates. Of course, there isn’t any communication back to Aaron unless there is a telepath talking to him. So far, Aaron hasn’t met a limit to how many people can receive this form of telepathy at a time. As far as he knows, anyone in range will hear his broadcasts, regardless of his relationship or lack of with them. Aaron can also adjust how far his broadcasts go, so that only the people maybe within a hundred-yard radius of him hear what he wants to say. In broadcast mode, Aaron cannot choose to exclude one or two people. It’s all or nothing, unless he’s mentally directing it at one or two people. In order to direct to people, Aaron has to have some kind of relationship with them, and having a sample of their DNA makes finding them easier. To those who receive these “verbal” messages, it can only be described as hearing him without hearing him. You hear his voice in your mind, though no verbal words are given. Thoughts that are broadcasted are chosen by Aaron, so he doesn’t let loose every thought that goes through his head. Aaron can also send images, and this part of his power functions like his verbal telepathy. Although the range that Aaron can send it is a lot more restricted than his talking telepathy, and the farthest from his position you can be and still get most of the picture is half a mile. After that, details start to become fuzzier and fuzzier until you don’t see anything but fuzzy blobs. Images are perceived by other people as the image taking over the person’s actual sight, until either Aaron lets the image broadcast go, or they block out his image with their mind. The most he’s able to send images to is two people at a time. THE WEAKNESSES When it comes to powers, the transition period between Aaron's real body and his morph are the worst times for him. Luckily, he's learned that with first-time morphs, he should do them in total privacy. Stopping him mid-morph can become interesting, as Aaron is half one thing and half himself. Also, Aaron cannot shift through morphs all willy-nilly, he must return to his body before going to the next animal. It takes a lot of energy to change your body totally, and after the third back-to-back morph, he starts to get really tired. First morphs are not only longer than the second and third times, they're also unpredictable. Aaron gains the animal's mind in his head, and he doesn't always gain control quickly the first time, making first morphs tricky, unpredictable, and dangerous. Food. Food is another great weakness of any teenage boy. Aaron is almost constantly hungry, since he usually spends as much time as not-Aaron as he does as Aaron. He'll eat anything and everything that he can get his hands on, and more. He'll go to some amazing lengths to get the food he needs, and it's almost bordering on an obsession. No, Aaron is not a vegan. By cycling through the food chain, he is aware that in order to survive, something must be lost. He understands that as a human, he is a predator, and isn't afraid to eat a pig... even if he has been one before. THE HISTORY Aaron Reid Knight was born on October tenth, seventeen years ago. His parents had met once, at that was when he was conceived nine months prior. Aaron’s birth wasn’t a rape, as many of the kids he’d grow up with later would call it. It was a chance, drunken encounter between the pretty Melissa Knight and Reid Quinn. Both had had a bit too much to drink, and they’d gotten down and dirty. Reid left later that night, and didn’t think twice about it. One night stands were a constant for him. He never knew that he’d gotten this girl knocked up, and she didn’t know either until almost two weeks later with the beginning pregnancy symptoms. It was confirmed by a home pregnancy test, and fully confirmed when her period was late. She had been tempted to abort the baby, but her friends were able to convince her not to do so. So, she wore her swollen belly loud and proud, and then the nine months was up, and Aaron came out, looking like a normal, sweet baby boy. Melissa had always had a soft spot for the name Aaron and Reid from his father’s name. She might never see Reid again, but she could at least give his child some connection to him, right? Melissa had been twenty at the time of Aaron’s birth, and was working as a nurse. She was living with her parents to save up money, and Aaron’s grandparents loved the little boy like he was their own, leaving Melissa free to return to work. Aaron’s younger years were pretty easy. His grandparents were his main caregivers in the morning, his mom would come home, and then she’d leave until evening. Aaron quickly got into the routine. He was just another normal baby… at least he seemed that way. Although, Aaron always had his quirks, no one could deny that. First of all, Aaron maybe crawled once in his life. Instead, he got around rolling like a tornado, upsetting everything in his path. When his grandparents took him around, which was a very few times, since they didn’t want all the violence getting to their grandson, he was able to make friends easily with kids his age. It seemed like Aaron had it going for him, even as a baby. Too bad they would learn that soon he had everything coming for him, but in a bad way. He was eight when it first happened to him, his first morph. He had been looking at this little fluffy, black, homeless cat that wandered around his grandparent’s property a lot. The cat, which until later Aaron was convinced was male, was a small thing, and Aaron could help but wonder what a day in the cat’s life could be like. Some strange pains coursed through his body, and Aaron could feel as his body made the change between human and feline. He actually stopped a few times, realizing quickly then when he thought about the cat, the pain came again, but supporting himself became easier. Within five minutes of stop-and-go morphing, Aaron was a small, female feline. He ran around his house, doing what every other kid who just became a cat would do; get into trouble, since he had to struggle with the cat’s instincts. A half an hour later, Aaron was naked in his room, confused as to what just happened. The next six years, Aaron practiced his powers in secret, terrified to tell his mother or grandparents. At ten, his mother finally was able to get her own apartment, but Aaron still visited his grandparents a lot. He figured out different ways to gain morphs, and at thirteen, learned control over specific changes. He had always been a good student, but now used books not only to learn, but to see animals, then practice them when his mother was gone, so she couldn’t hear him screaming as he changed for the first time and his body had to figure out where exactly all the parts went. It always helped to see internal structure maps of the animals. He’d always been aware of the gangs, and at fourteen, started his vigilantism. It had been an accident. Aaron had taken up wearing skin-tight clothes when he forgot to change out of some gym shorts he had been wearing that were tight on him in a good way and gone the little black cat, who he called Raven. Anyway, he saw a member of the Reavers beating up some random kid maybe two years older than him. Aaron ducked behind some dumpsters, took off the loose clothing, stuffed them away, and gone wolf morph. He busted out and tore the man’s throat out, using the wolf battle skills and anger to help him. The boy was incredibly confused, until Aaron came over, licked the guy’s face, and walked away. If the boy made advancements, Aaron would growl at him until the guy simply ran from the bizarreness of it all. He’d found a good use for his power that he’d kept a secret all this time. For the next three years, Aaron was in and out of school. In school, he’d try his hardest to find battle morphs as well as stealth ones. A few animals that became regulars were Raven, a male king cobra, a rat, seagull, pigeon, peregrine falcon, wolf, and chimpanzee. He had a wide variety of other animals, along with people at his disposal to use. It was easy, find crime, morph what was needed, attack them, and hide out until morphing back became an option. Easy as pie. He had a few close calls, but injuries apparently didn’t carry over from one morph to the next, except for injuries to his body. They wouldn’t appear on morphs, but when he got back to Aaron, they’d be there. Now, this wasn’t all Aaron was doing, let me tell you. He was fooling around, being a, well, a male teenager. From an early age, he’d always considered girls his best friends, and never as someone to date. Boys, on the other hand, were all out there for him. He dated a few guys in secret, and then at the age of sixteen, came out around school. Bullies left him alone, since they learned he punched back (with their own muscles, mind you). It was easy enough, and soon Aaron became manipulative and let out his true, flamboyant self. He liked manipulating guys to get sex out of them, and later have them do things for him to keep the cover. He found a special talent with talking people into things, though this was more of a personality/ looks thing, not a special power, as far as Aaron knew. About two months ago, Aaron caught wind of the Teen Titans. That night, he left his mother a note telling her he’d make her proud like he always said he would, and that he loved her. He didn’t want to her to know too much so the gangsters couldn’t get to her. He was sure she’d understand. However, he did tell her about his power, and let her draw her own conclusions. About a month in, Aaron had been pretty much accepted into the Titans, and his powers put him in the Shade Squad. The leader was a close female friend of Aaron’s, and she died about a month ago from a solo mission. Aaron was elected by the others in the squad and the Titans to take her place. Since then, he’s taken everything seriously, and uses all the information and data that the leader of a squad can get. It also helps that his title was enough weight for Aaron to personally throw around, without any outside DNA help. THE PLAYER Name: Jay Time Zone: Eastern Contact Info: PM, AIM, Yahoo Roleplay Sample: “Alight little eagle, we can do this,” Aaron muttered to himself. He’d recently gained a golden eagle morph, thanks to a fun little book. Now, he was locked in his room, curtains drawn, and his squad had been alerted not to enter unless a completely dire situation came up, and no matter how much he screamed. Yeah, this was going to get really, really fun fast. He only had a pair of shorts on, since he wasn’t going to really try clothing right now. At times, that stuff could complicate matters. Might as well keep it simple. His bare feet were cold against the floor of his room. Aaron took in a breath, and pictured himself as a giant brown eagle soaring over New York City. The changes took almost instantly. His arms started to feel like someone was ripping his fingers off. Knowing better, he kept thinking about the eagle. Physically, his arm bones shot out of his flesh, gleaming white and already avian. The flesh quickly climbed back up. His chest bulged out with his sternum adding a keel bone, and his organs became Aaron-sized golden eagle systems. He felt himself shrink, and his skin formed feather patterns the slowly peeled into 3-D feathers. Inside, he was on fire, but he kept with it. A couple more changes later, and a whole lot of pain, a golden eagle sat where Aaron had been not even two minutes ago. The eagle’s mind hit him like a truck. Instinctually, he crouched, weary of everything. The eagle was a hard one to crack. Aaron felt like a mental wall formed in his mind between Aaron and eagle. He rammed all his consciousness against it, and eventually he felt it fall away like glass, and control was his. Now that he had that settled, how was he going to do anything? His door was locked and only he had the key. Wonderful. He could ask for people to help. He’d have to substitute a killer beak for opposable thumbs. “Let’s go see how this will turn out,” he thought to himself. He hopped up near the window, and took off from the ground, but his wings were too large for the space, and he hit a lot of things going up. His wings were powerful enough to brush it all off, but he knew that he’d have to clean it up later. Wonderful. Hopping on the too-small windowsill, Aaron thought that maybe this wasn’t the best idea. As a bird, he knew that he couldn’t lift the blinds, and if anyone saw an eagle doing that, they’d start guessing as to what was going on, and that wouldn’t be a good thing. Shame on him! Aaron was the head of the Shades, the cunning, sly ones that lived in the shadows. He should’ve have even thought about testing the morph here! He’d have to get out of the city first, get into the forest. No one ever went in there unless they had a sketchy past and didn’t want to say anything. Not that he wouldn’t watch his back the whole time, make sure he wasn’t spotted. The eagle’s head dropped; a very human movement. Hopping down, Aaron began the process of becoming human, which was much less painful than Aaron to eagle. A minute later, he was on his bed in a cold sweat, proud of his accomplishment in at least becoming a master flyer, a golden eagle. |
